The Nebraska Cooperative Development Center is Nebraska’s center for cooperative based business development. We provide education, training, and technical assistance to cooperatively owned business, be it a cooperative, an LLC, or other business structure.

Nebraska has seena surge of entrepreneurial businesses being developed that are structured as a Cooperative or a Limited Liability Corporation. These entities are governed by a Board of Directors who has a variety of roles and responsibilities.
The Level 1 Training program focuses on the Management Team of the Coop or LLC, by focusing on the roles and responsibilities of the Board of Directors. The legal foundations of the cooperatively owned business (Cooperative-open vs. closed, Limited Cooperative Associations, LLC’s, Partnerships) will be reviewed as well as the Board of Directors legal obligations. Hear a banker’s point of view of the financial considerations of running a start up company. We will also cover how to run an effective board meeting as well as basic parliamentary procedure.
Presenters:
Dr. Mike Turner, Professor emeritus of Ag Economics at UNL. Dr. Turner has worked extensively with local board of directors for over 35 years. He has worked with boards on strategic planning, business development and many other areas.
Ed Woeppel, Education and Program Director for the Nebraska Cooperative council will also be a part of the management team discussion. Ed has spent his entire career in education and for the past eight years has coordinated the delivery of educational programs for the Nebraska Cooperative council.
Rocky Weber, Attorney, Crosby Guenzel LLP, has represented several new cooperatively owned businesses over the last several years and is an expert in cooperative law.
Matt Williams, President, Gothenburg State Bank, past president of the Nebraska Bankers Assn., has a wide experience in value added business development.
